The practical controls behind the wash

Commercial sites differ. We agree the working area, access and cleaning scope before the visit, then identify any additional safety or wastewater arrangements the job requires.

Insurance

PWS holds £1 million public liability insurance. The policy includes cover for property being cleaned, treated, maintained or worked on, subject to the policy wording, schedule, exclusions and excess.

Site safety

We review access, vehicle movements, the wash position and known site hazards. Risk assessments and method statements can be prepared where the site or customer requires them.

Environmental controls

Where required, we can plan drain protection, containment, diversion, recovery and removal of wastewater produced by our cleaning work.

Before work begins

Information we may need from the site

The right checks depend on the location and the work. Straightforward repeat visits may need less planning than a new site with unfamiliar drainage or traffic movements.

Wastewater and drainage

Linked to the way the site is set up

Surface-water drains, foul-water drains, interceptors and dedicated wash areas do not all provide the same route. We need accurate site information before agreeing how wash water will be managed.

Our wastewater page explains the equipment and planning that may be used, including drain bungs, covers, temporary barriers, recovery pumps and collection tanks.

Wastewater Containment and Recovery

Insurance, risk assessments, method statements and wastewater controls do not remove the customer's responsibility to provide accurate site information, safe access and any site-specific rules that apply. Relevant documentation can be discussed before work starts.
